Dr Akhil Gupta BDS (Hons)

Akhil is one of the principal dentists at Deddington Dental and took over the running of the practice in September 2015. His aim is to provide high quality dental care to the local community. As well as Deddington Dental he works at dental practices in Oxford, Didcot and Newbury. Dr Gupta has an interest in cosmetic orthodontic treatment and providing the best quality care possible. Apart from teeth he has a passion for travel and photography and has many stories he can share with you.

Dr Taj Sihra is also the co-principal dentist with us. She gains satisfaction from treating nervous patients and helping them to overcome their fears of dental treatment. She also has a keen interest in cosmetic dental procedures and facial aesthetics having been trained by Dr Bob Khanna. She has also completed a certified course in implant placement and is proud to be able to offer them as a restorative option.

Dr Kristlee S Fernandes BDS
2002, MDS (Endodontics)

Kris Graduated from Goa Dental College in 2002 with a bachelor of dental surgery and Masters of dental surgery in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He now consults in more than 10 practices in the UK around Oxford, London, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Kris has had several publications in international journals and is one of the inventors of a medicament for failed root canal treatments. He loves treating challenging cases, especially teeth with a poor prognosis. His warm, caring and professional nature makes the patient experience pleasant and calming. At Deddington Dental, Kris accepts internal and external referrals for endodontic treatment.

Dr Sophia Puri BDS MFDS RCS(Ed) PG Dip (clear aligners)

ASSOCIATE DENTIST, GDC NO. 244953

Sophia qualified from King’s College University in London. She is currently working as a general dental practitioner and visits Deddington Dental to carry out tooth extractions. Having spent an additional year training as an Oral and Maxillofacial Senior House Officer, in a hospital in North West London, she is able to tackle more complicated extractions of broken down teeth and wisdom teeth. Her empathetic nature helps to put patients at ease during these procedures and make the experience as comfortable as possible. Sophia has completed an Advanced Operative and Aesthetic Dentistry with the Aspire Dental Academy and is highly experienced in Invisalign and cosmetic treatments.

Dr Jas Bardha BDS (Wales) MSc(Birm.) MFDS RCS(Ed) PG Cert Implants MSc(Endodontics)

Jas graduated from Cardiff University in 1993 and after completing his foundation year in Swansea, he gained posts at Oral surgery/Maxillofacial departments at Bridgend and Worcester. He then went on to become an Associate at a dental practice in Bromsgrove followed by purchase of his own dental practice in Birmingham in 2001 where he was for 19 years. Jas sold his practice in 2020 and now holds associate posts at various dental practices in the midlands. His interests other than general dentistry are Orthodontics, Oral surgery, Implants and Endodontics. Jas has a special interest in Endodontics and is an accredited Endodontic practitioner. In his spare time he enjoys Golf, cricket and martial arts.

Dr Gurleen Mann BDS London PG DIP (Restorative)

Gurleen graduated from King’s College London in 2017 and since then, she has enjoyed working as a general dental practitioner with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. Gurleen has completed several courses in cosmetic dentistry and is currently pursuing a diploma in aesthetic and restorative dentistry to enhance skills for Invisalign, composite bonding and veneers. Gurleen aims to prioritise patient wishes and put patients at ease, making their dental visit as enjoyable as possible.

In her free time, Gurleen enjoys baking, travelling and keeping fit, having recently trained for and completed the London marathon.

Dr Angela onchwari BDS London MFDS RCS (Glas)

ASSOCIATE DENTIST, GDC NO. 251886

Angela graduated from King’s College London. She has honed her passion for all aspects of general dentistry and building a rapport that encourages trust and allows patients to feel safe and empowered with regards to their oral health. She works hard to eliminate the fear and phobia associated with dentistry, with patience and understanding.
 
Angela is also keen on continued professional development, having completed her membership diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and multiple postgraduate courses such as Invisalign Go, Monik Vasant composite course and Advanced Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry programmes among others. She also worked as a foundation trainer for the Oxfordshire scheme, helping new graduate dentists in general practice. 
 
In her free time, when she is not making a mess on a canvas, she enjoys cooking with family and friends, reading fantasy novels and dominating the leader boards on candy crush.

Miss alexandra cross

DENTAL HYGIENIST, GDC NO. 276878

Alexandra is our Dental Hygienist at Deddington Dental. She qualified at Cardiff University with Distinction. Alex’s ethos is to work with patients to develop treatment plans, and home care, which maintains oral health. Alex is committed to ensuring that our patients are provided with great care and reassurance, as well as results. Alex has also trained at an internationally recognised, College for Aesthetics, and now provides skin consultations and advanced skin treatments.

Dr riz syed (Implantologist)

IMPLANT SURGEON, GDC NO. 77092

Dr Riz Syed visits us for the most complex implant cases. He qualified in 1999 at the Royal London Hospital after which he worked in the Oral Maxillo-Facial surgical department. Since then he has successfully completed extensive post graduate studies in both implant and restorative dentistry and completed a masters certificate from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He has trained extensively in both America and Europe in advanced soft and hard tissue management and has recently completed an advanced training course in oral plastic surgery in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Syed lectures both nationally and internationally on all aspects of implant dentistry including hard and soft tissue management and Nobel guide.

Miss Karen Cheetham

PRACTICE MANAGER, GDC NO. 131617

Karen has been with the practice since 2015 and took over the role as our Practice Manager in 2017. She is local to Deddington and is very experienced in dental nursing and management, having worked both in private practice in Oxford and previously here at Deddington Dental. She is excellent at calming anxious patients making their treatment more relaxing. She prides herself on providing the best experience for patients and keeping up to date with the latest CQC policies and procedures. Outside of work she has Myla and Frankie (two cheeky miniature schnauzers) to keep her busy on long walks through the local countryside.

Mrs Clare Walker

DENTAL NURSE, GDC NO. 216341

Clare joined us in 2017 as a dental nurse. She has since become our lead nurse in cross infection control within the practice. She has a great deal of experience qualifying from dental nursing in 2011. She has a great nature and is passionate about what she does. She has worked in and around Oxfordshire over the past few years and has now decided on a more long term position closer to home. Outside of work Clare has a passion for gardening and has recently gained her RHS level 2 certificate.

Mrs Zoe Carroll

DENTAL NURSE, GDC NO. 147908

Zoe has been a dental nurse for over 35 years. She has a vast experience working with both specialist and general dentists. She is great at reassuring nervous patients and is known by patients and colleagues for her sunny disposition. Her past times include watching football and netball, taking long walks, visiting the seaside and regularly attending the theatre and concerts.

Erika joined our team in 2022, having qualified in Oxfordshire previously. She has quickly become a skilled member of our team and works with all of our dentists.

Mrs adina bazavan

Adina moved from London in 2022, where she worked at a dental practice in Marylebone. Since then, she has joined our expanding team at Deddington Dental. She holds extra qualifications and is able to scan patients’ teeth with our dental scanner and take radiographs for our dentists.

Mrs Isabel Knibb

Isabel joined our team in 2023.

She has been a qualified since 2007 working as both a dental nurse and receptionist.
 
In her spare time, she enjoys dog grooming, clubbercise and running – something she started in 2021 and successfully completed her first ½ marathon in Oxford for Cancer Research in 2022.

Miss ashlyn coombes

Ashlyn Coombes is one of the practice nurses at Deddington dental. She has lots of experience working with different practitioners within the dentistry field. She will be providing expert and calming assistance to all the dentists. 
 
Ashlyn lives locally to the practice with her family. In her spare time she enjoys walking her Sproodle dog, Bella, in the local countryside and spending time with her two cats Hughie and Roarie.

Dr carelyn isaac BSc BDS MSc

DENTAL SEDATIONIST, GDC NO. 211274

Carelyn’s first experience of sedation started at a young age when visiting the dentist and became more
of an interest while studying dentistry at Guy’s Hospital, Kings College London. Since qualifying, dental sedation has become a primary focus of her career and a real passion. Her nurturing nature and natural skill to deliver sedation has enabled not only herself, but also other dentists, to successfully provide the care and treatment for hundreds of nervous and dental phobic who otherwise would be considered untreatable.
